EHF CUP GAME CANCELLED BY EUROPEAN HANDBALL FEDERATION As we announced a few hours ago, European Handball Federation cancelled EHF Cup game between TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Prosolia SIID Elda Prestigio due to bad aviation conditions caused by an ash cloud. EHF has published an official statement where explain this cancellation.
EHF also cancelled Women´s Challenge Cup semi-finals due to diferrent reasons: polish president dead Lech Kaczynski for Vistal-Göppingen and ash cloud for Buxtehuder-Metalurg.
In Champions League semi-finals, Viborg travelled to Norway by ship and EHF changed lithuanian referees by swedish.
In the other semi-final, Györ travelled to Ramnicu Valcea by bus, there are almost six hundred kilometres between boh cities.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT: "As Eurohandball.com published eralier, a number of matches were influenced by the difficult aviation conditions caused by an ash cloud over major parts of Europe.
The EHF Cup semi-final 2nd leg between Prosolia SIID Elda Prestigio and Bayer 04 Leverkusen was also effected as the Spanish team were not able to make their way to Germany. The gamas was postponed until further notice.
At the same time, this is the last cancellation due to the circumstances: all other teams and match officials will be able to reach their destinations this weekend".
